This Cookie Policy explains how TrustGate IT uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website. It complements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your personal data more generally.

The short version: We use a small number of essential cookies to make the site work, plus optional analytics and chat tools to understand visitors and answer questions. You can accept, reject, or change your choice at any time using our cookie banner.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit. They allow the site to recognise your device on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, and gather information about how the site is used.

"Cookies" in this policy also covers similar technologies such as web beacons, pixels, local storage, and session storage, which serve comparable purposes.

2. Why we use cookies

We use cookies for three main reasons:

  • To make the site work properly — for example, remembering your cookie preferences so we don't keep asking.
  • To understand how visitors use the site — anonymised analytics that help us see which pages perform well, where visitors drop off, and what content is useful.
  • To support communication tools — like our live chat widget, which uses cookies to maintain your chat session.

3. Types of cookies we use

Essential   Strictly necessary cookies

These are required for the website to function. They do not require your consent because the site cannot work without them. They cannot be disabled.

  • Cookie consent preference (so we remember whether you accepted or rejected non-essential cookies)
  • Session-state cookies needed for forms and basic site functionality

Analytics   Performance cookies

These help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. All data is aggregated and anonymised — we cannot identify individual visitors from analytics data alone. These cookies are loaded only after you give consent.

  • Google Analytics 4 — measures visitor numbers, pages viewed, sources of traffic, and user journeys.
  • Microsoft Clarity — provides heatmaps and anonymised session recordings to show how people interact with pages.

Functional   Functional cookies

These power optional features of the site, such as live chat. They are loaded only when you interact with these features or accept cookies.

  • Tawk.to live chat — keeps your chat session active and remembers your name/email if you've used the chat before.

4. Third-party cookies in detail

The table below summarises the main third-party cookies and similar technologies on our site, what they do, and how long they last. The exact list may change as providers update their software.

5. Managing your preferences

Update your cookie preferences

Change your choice for analytics and functional cookies at any time.

Open cookie settings

Via our cookie banner

The first time you visit our site, a banner appears asking whether you accept analytics cookies. You can change this at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the footer of any page on our site.

Via your browser

You can also manage and delete cookies directly through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • See which cookies are stored and delete them individually
  • Block third-party cookies entirely
  • Block cookies from specific sites
  • Delete all cookies when you close your browser

Help links for popular browsers:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

Note: blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site, including form submissions and the cookie banner itself.

Opt out of analytics globally

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Do Not Track signals

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal indicating you do not want to be tracked. There is currently no industry consensus on how DNT signals should be honoured, so we do not currently respond to them. However, if you reject analytics cookies via our banner, we will not load analytics tracking on your visit.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our website, tools, or applicable laws change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes affecting how we collect data will be highlighted via the cookie banner.
